Police security cover for the upcoming IPL matches would not be possible due to the Loka Sabha polls,u00a0city police commissioner S M Bidri has said.


He said that security would be provided only after the polls as the former is their top priority.

Bidri said the police have decided to provide security to the IPL matches after the Lok Sabha polls and this has been conveyed to the authority concerned.

He further said that there is adequate number of police personnel and would be assisted by KSRP, CAR and other armed forces.


"We would handle the polls effectively and later take up the IPL security," he said, adding that though the police face work pressure and stress this would be part and parcel of their duty.

Asked whether there is a proposal to go for private security for the IPL matches, Bidri said it is up to the organisers to take a decision, based on which the police would take appropriate measures.

Sources in the KSCA said a letter has been sent to police headquarters in the regard seeking their opinion on security.
